Technically, a player needs have the capacity to execute any shot, while tactically, they need to know why and when to select the most correct shot even before they have to execute it. When you can fuse both, you can begin to control your opponents and play the game at your pace and your style.

The Pickleball Lab is designed to help a student improve their mastery of the intellectual, emotional and physical dynamics of the game so that when it’s time to play, especially competitively, the habitual work they have put in translates to success instinctively and more effortlessly. This training regimen is the answer to many requests for a program that employs strategy, skill refinement, use of Play Sight technology and much more.

Lab Prerequisites and Curriculum:

This is a class designed for the experienced intermediate to advanced player. There will be an equal balance of drills and live playing to help you learn and then implement into real-time performance. We will have one main skill focus during the drilling portion and prioritize that during the game play to create in-game experiences to cultivate healthy and prosperous habits.

Players should register for Pickleball Lab based on their current rating and can move up to other Pickleball Lab classes as you improve your skills.

Strategic Elements:

  • Dinking and Control Strategies
  • Emphasis on angle, placement and touch
  • Mid-court dinking for maintaining control and neutralizing opponents attacks
  • Understanding the importance of patience and precision in the soft game
  • When to attack in the dink game

Court Positioning:

  • Understanding optimal positioning based on shot selection, offense, defense, attacks by your partner, defending the lob, and more.

Advanced Court Coverage and Footwork:

  • Importance of lateral movement for better court coverage
  • Split-step timing to react swiftly to opponents shots
  • Drills to recover quickly after shots and maintain balance

STEPS TO REGISTER – IF A MEMBER OF PICKLES AND PLAY

  1. Open Court Reserve app, or go to https://app.courtreserve.com
  2. Make sure you see PNP logo on top. (If not, select “My Organization”, then select Pickles & Play*)
  3. Select “Events”
  4. Select “Categories” **
  5. Select “Pickleball Clinic” (training classes are listed under this heading, leagues under the leagues heading, etc)
  6. Scroll through the list & select the clinic you are interested in.
  7. On the next screen, you will see details for the selected clinic: dates, times, cost, as well as a full description, including prerequisites, eligible levels, and assigned instructor(s).
  8. Select “Register for Full Event” (you will have the next screen to review, before finalizing the selection).
  9. Select “Finalize Selection” (you will have 15 min to finalize your registration).
  10. You will receive confirmation of your registration.

* If you do not see Pickles and Play in your list of organizations, simply add them.

** You can also select “Calendar” to see clinic options by date. If you select “register” from Calendar, you can continue with step #7, above.

STEPS TO REGISTER – IF NOT A MEMBER OF PICKLES AND PLAY

  1. Open Court Reserve app, or go to https://app.courtreserve.com
  2. Click on the option “Don’t have an account”
  3. On the next screen, select “I’m a player”
  4. The next screen asks to search for an organization, enter “Pickles and Play” and select “create an account with Pickles and Play.”
  5. Enter your information, and under membership, if you are not wanting to become a member but desire to register for leagues, classes and other offerings. Select “Non-Member.” You will not need a credit card for this type of membership, as it is free. However, you must become a Non-Member under the membership options in order to gain access to the various registration options for programs (classes, leagues, camps, clinics, etc).
  6. Once you become a Non-Member, you will have access to the various programs!
  7. Select “Events”
  8. Select “Categories” **
  9. Select “Pickleball Clinic,” (training classes are listed under this heading, leagues under the leagues heading, etc)
  10. Scroll through the list & select the clinic you are interested in.
